Boy do I feel proud of myself. Second night in Tokyo (after five days in Kanagawa). Went to the grocery store (it was Seiyu last night, and Taiyo/Ikiiki tonight) at 8pm. All the ready-to-eat stuff was marked down. Got some maguro sashimi for 250 yen, three plain rice balls for about 140 yen, a piece of fried salmon for 70 yen, and a bonito flake onigiri for 65 yen. That's the cheapest sashimi dinner ever, even after discovering Uodon (typical kaisendon for less than 700 yen) in Fujisawa. Stay tuned - I think I will finally start making use of that Instagram account. Incidentally.. for those wanting to try this.. make sure you get the free packets of wasabi, shoyu and the ginger flakes with the sashimi.

I love the closeness of your relationship and the unspoken love that shines through in your interactions with each other <3 so beautiful to see between a mother and son. I also love that your Mum LOVES onigiri I have only just discovered onigiri myself, having found some in the frozen section of my local chinese supermarket here in the UK- i was SO excited to find them that i had to buy one of every flavour to try immediately... and i wasn't dissapointed! Now i have bought an onigiri mould and some furikake seasoning and have started to make them for myself. I would love to see you and your Mum making onigiri home style with her favourite combinations/recipes so that i can follow along at home and make them for myself here in England. x

Onigiri looks soooo delicious!!! There is no place in my area that sells onigiri. If I had a marathon onigiri making session, how long could I expect the onigiri to last if well wrapped?

The onigiri here in germany where i live costs about 3€ per piece. Which is like 3.20$. It's wild how expensive they are here compared to Japan. They treat it as some sort of super exotic thing but they really are just rice, some chicken and nori. I wish i could just get one for a reasonable price but i really have to make em myself because i ain't got that kinda change for a little snack lol

Your Mom is the best. Hearing you two converse in Nihongo is very comfortable. I have gluten allergy. Seems most combini onigiri isn't edible for me, looks like wakame and the shisoume are possible. Love these two anyway😊. Trying to work out how to not starve when finally visiting Japan. Your videos show I shouldn't visit my Grandmother's family as gluten warning labeling seems uncommon so it would burden them to have to feed me. This video was so much fun, feel like I got to try all the onigiri vicariously! Thank you for posting it🙏

I'm already missing the onigiri breakfast 😢

Here in USA,there are only a few Lawson’s left,and I mean less than 10!! BUT,Here in Ohio,you can still get Lawson’s chip dip!!! It is legendary. It has a cult following,in fact,I know someone who has a tattoo of a container of Lawson’s chip dip🤣 It’s incredible on a baked potato!

I was in Japan about a week ago and Lawson/7-11 were life savers. 7-11 cripsy chicken is amazing & The onigiri was a perfect breakfast (we were always on the move)
